The Lumbee of of North Carolina….as you drive by Lumberton along rte 95 and see sign for The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and you see the ‘black water’ of the Lumbee River you ARE on Lumbee land. Recently Federally recognized after living in the area for centuries, they are finally getting their due.
